 ;D

It is a guards game and will remain a guards game in today's college basketball.

Great win for the boys.

No one has ever said college hoops was not a guards game.  What has always been said and what continues to be true is the teams that have great big men in addition  to great guards will be the best teams.  Florida who has great guards and great big men won last year and is #1 this year.  Pittsburgh, Alabama, Ucla and some of this year's other truly elite teams fit this mold.  You are such a redundant idiot.  I guess if we put Big Baby on this team or Joachim Noah or Greg Oden we are no better or even worse

I think the difference is how you and others quanlify "great big men".  In my opinion good big men can get it done with great guards.  It's a lot easier to recruit great guards to MU then great big men....good big men is another story.

I do not consider UCLA's big men to be GREAT nor many other schools.  Barro and others can more than hold their own against them, but because we do have GREAT guards that is the difference.

There are many ways to skin the cat, and since very few GREAT big men exist, Crean is right to play the percentages and build on the core of guards.

Crean isn't stupid.   Happy Turkey day Harrison.

You CAN win without a great big man. You CANNOT win without great guard play.

77Fan,
Everyone here would love to have Noah.  I think the question is would we give up James, McNeal, or Matthews to get him.  Now that's something that we can debate.

bingo.

Teams with great guards and average bigs will be better than teams with great bigs and average guards....its a truism in today's game.  Heck, look at Arizona's title team, the MSU squads that went to three Final Fours, Pitino's 'Ville team, etal etal etal.

Why the need to look elsewhere?  Ooze is developing into a very capable big man.

Exactly Ecompt!!!

Of course I would want Horford...he's an almost impossible get for MU...not totally, but almost.  Play the percentages, get great guards and see how far you can go.

I have seen plenty of teams with great guards go deep.  I have seen plenty of teams with great guards and great inside players go deep and win it.  I have yet to see a team go deep that did not have great guard play, regardless of how good their bigs were.....strike that....2000 Wisconsin team might qualify.

In today's college game, that is hard to argue with.
