Jimmy Butler's nickname

He doesn't have one yet, does he?

I'd promote "Throwback" because it describes his game.

His nickname should be "Miley" because of the party in the usa singing at disney video.

First off, why doesn't something simple like The Butler work?

Secondly, whatever happened to the rumored tshirt someone was going to make that said "The Butler did it, In the Bradley Center, with a Basketball" or something to that effect??  I would buy at least 6 of those shirts right now if made for Christmas presents.

The Jimmy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Jimmy

Worst. Idea. Ever. Every time he's on the floor I have to listen to people reference him in 3rd person. Yeah I get it Seinfeld was funny, you miss 1996 and still think calling people who don't like going to the dentist 'anti-dentites'. Even if Seinfeld was a great show "Jimmy's Got Skills" and "Jimmy is a good basketball player" is only funny once per season, so don't waste it on a non-conference game but it's certainly not funny ever time Butler gets on the court.

Not sure I get your gripe with Seinfeld, it's still syndicated on like 15 different networks so it is certainly still relevant...

Not too mention from a guy with an Entourage reference as his screen name.  Entourage is sweet.  For reals.

The Jimmy. Tough as nails. Forged on the anvil of adversity. No stranger to pain, his soul calloused by the cruel twists of life in a barren Texas town. Despite these travails, or perhaps because of them, he journeyed north with a dream. And that is how he entered our world. His quest became our reward. We were moved by the sheer poetry of this encounter. Exquisite eloquence taken greyhound form. His artistry has that harsh elegance one finds in Thai silk or the bamboo forest...at once both refined and coarseā€¦the yin and yang of life given impeccable expression through raw energy and graceful dispensation. The Jimmy delivers these lines like Olivier interpreted Hamlet - with a verve, panache, and audacity that only genius can dare. He must be The Jimmy...He can only be The Jimmy

Clue

At first everyone made references to "the Butler did it".  It reminds me of the old board game "Clue"?  You would try and figure out who committed a murder and one option was "the butler did it".  Jimmy had a clue and that's why he improved so much from his first year to this year.  He "murders" other teams with his outstanding play.  Can't you hear the Bradley Center yelling "Cluuuu...e" after he makes a great play and those not familiar with the nickname asking "Why are they booing #33?  He just made a great play?"

If a nickname isn't obvious and clearly reflect a universally observed trait, characteristic, or play on name, then he probably doesn't need one.

Otherwise, I suggest one of the random names listed in the above posts.

I also like

Dark shins, Grape Ape, and Mr. Hizzle.

I was going to point out the obvious flaw in your comparison (the FNL kid is white) but I zoomed in on the photo on the left of the page and I have to admit I think I see it.

I see the resemblance as well.  Landry also looks a little like Matt Damon; although, Damon does not look like Butler.  I guess the transitive property does not apply in this case.

Warthog, your status as Scoop's poet laureate is cemented with each new post. Equal parts Raymond Chandler and Elmore Leonard with assists from Tom Waits and Warren Zevon. This crap is hilarious. Proves that toothless Ruthie (of Avalanche fame) was without question the muse of MU.
