I don't know if we can ever adequately thank the senior players for what they have done over the past 3 1/2 years. It will be incredibly sad to see them leave.

It will probably be the saddest senior night in a very long time - we will miss these guys so much - on and off the court they have represented our university with class.  My sombrero is off to the 3 Amigoes.

Last great senior night might have been

Pieper, Crawford, and Abraham

and before that

Key, Logterman, and McIlvaine

Absolutely....arguably the best senior class ever, certainly top 3.  Best senior class in decades.  A blast to watch, an absolute blast.

I hope they turn the emotion into an azz-kicking of Syracuse!

I shortened my vacation to make sure i'm in Milwaukee for Senior day.  We owe it to these guys to show them an awesome amount of support/ love during the game.  Ohhh... and it's a gonna be a great game vs. Syracuse.... they look really, really good right now.

This is a great class but nothing makes a legacy better than winning. Three times MU has hit the FF and certain classes stood out each time. This group wants to cement it's stake in MU history a FF would be a great help. This group will be remembered in high regard no matter what happens, but to be talked about in best classes of all time a little more NCCA air time in March will be needed.

Anytime a great class leaves it is somewhat sad. For you young guys--even at 45y you can get a little misty eyed watching great ones leave.

I suspect quite a few more people than normal will stick around for the post-game senior day activities this year.  Will be sad to see these guys leave.  In the meatime, lets enjoy them.   Smiley

All true, but bear in mind the first two Final Four teams needed to win three games to get there, now you need four.  It's that much tougher.

I think it is a little unfair to judge the Three Amigos on FFs.  How many Final Fours would Wade, Townsend and Diener have gone to if the front line was Barro, Burke, Hayward and Fitzgerald instead of Jackson, Merritt, Sanders and Novak?  Or Lee, Neary and Boylan if they had those guys instead of Toone, Ellis and Whitehead?  (Here's a hint:  0)  By the same token, How many FFs would Ellis, Toone and Whitehead have had if they had the same guards we had the year Diener got hurt?  Also, zero.

These guys are great guards/wings, but they can't be expected to carry our interior guys to a FF.  These guys constitute a tremendous class, among the best ever to wear the blue and gold.  It is not their fault they weren't surrounded with very good interior players.

A couple of other stats to chew on with this senior class:

-Barring an epic collapse, this senior class will be the first to have 4 consecutive 20 win season since the class of 1998 (Aaron Hutchins, Abel Joseph, Richard Shaw).

-If MU grabs an NCAA bid this year, this will be the first senior class to make 4 consecutive NCAAs since the 1979-1980 season.

-As of right now, our current seniors have 85 career wins.  Since the 1978-1979 season, only 2 senior classes have exceeded 90 career wins:

1997 (Fasial Abraham, Chris Crawford, Anthony Pieper), 90 wins
2005 (Travis Diener, Todd Townsend, Marcus Jackson), 91 wins

These seniors should exceed both those totals and with deep Big East/NCAA tournament runs, have an outside shot at winning 100 career games for the first time since the class of 1977.

-Maintaining their current scoring paces, both James and McNeal will surpass George Thompson's scoring record, and McNeal also has an outside shot at 2,000 points, depending on how many postseason games this team plays.  Wesley Matthews will also end up in the top 6 in scoring if he maintains his current scoring average.

To further iteriate The General's point this class earned every single win as they started from day one.

I'm lucky to have come in as a freshman with these 3 amazing players... I know I'll be very sad to see them go, they gave myself and all of my friends some fantastic games and great seasons over these four years.
